3.5 to 5e monster conversion

Some content used under the open gaming license. If you’re going to take some PC’s to the jungles of Chult, this may be a nice monster to throw in the mix. So i have some minor exposure to some of the older editions. However, back in second edition, the cockatrice had a firey cousin called the pyrolisk. Atlas Rules Resources Adventures Stories FAQ Search Links D&D to AD&D Conversion by Ian R Malcomson. So my question is really around how to convert the NPC to something relevant in 5E.

Currently, I'm running an old second edition module converted to 5th for my players. In my opinion 5e looks closer to 2e than 3e or pathfinder, but with different kits. There is some really weird variance in the data that I’m trying to account for. In 2e, you cannot always figure out those details. The best thing to do is find comparable monsters, if you fight a Lich in 2nd edition, you fight a Lich in 5th edition. Still have 5e game running, it's been 100% OSR by my reckoning: 1) LotFP encumberance, LotFP xp awards for monsters (I award for stuff survived, not killed), everyone uses cleric xp advancement table.

D&D3.5 Monsters to 5e On The Fly Introduction. The goal cannot be to produce a facsimile of a monster from 2e or 3.5 in a 5e form, because more than just numbers have changed over the years.
